Our Philosophy

Music Works Magic embraces a developmental approach to music education based on the philosophy of Kodaly. Zoltan Kodaly, Hungarian music educator, who said that before we put expensive instruments into the hands of our young, they must be able to sing in tune. It is in the early years that our hearing develops and by exposing children in their early years to positive musical experiences through music education we can improve their vocal and listening skills.

So our most advanced students are those who have taken the time to master their first instrument – the voice – and learn to sing in tune. Good musicians always sing. These sound music education foundations aid the learning and playing of musical instruments in later life.

Methods that Suit Your Needs

At Music Works Magic, children and adults have the opportunity to learn various instruments with either a traditional or Suzuki approach. Our Director is happy to discuss different approaches to help you to decide the best approach for you or your child. Exam preparation available but optional. All students are encouraged to perform at our concerts but again this is not compulsory. We encourage students to attend concerts to learn from and support each other.
