Meredith Connie

Meredith began her studies in guitar at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, before moving to the US to pursue guitar performance and instruction. She holds two masters degrees, a research masters in Musicology (MPhil) from the University of Sydney and a performance masters from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (MMus).

Over the last decades, while living and working in the States, she has undertaken to continue her studies in pedagogy through her Suzuki training as well as Early Childhood training (including Dalcroze and Orff). With broad experience over teaching at a variety of schools, Meredith chose to pursue completing her training in the Suzuki method (Books 1-9) and Suzuki Early Childhood training, due to a deep affinity for working with young children. Her students have ranged from three years old to seventy three years old, and she has worked in a variety of settings teaching music, from general music theory in a college setting (Montana State University, College of Technology Great Falls and Pierce College WA) to developing new pedagogical aids for teaching guitar in a group setting for young children.

In her performance career, she is most passionate about chamber music, and outside of teaching music, she is most passionate about composition. Those things were all combined when she conducted the combined Suzuki Guitar student ensemble at the 2016 Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference, performing her own composition “Mosquito Stomp”. An active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and an active collaborator with other instrumental musicians, Meredith brings to her lessons and group classes over twenty years of teaching experience.
