Alexandra Velasco is currently in her third year of her Bachelor of Music (Performance stream) at the University of Melbourne Conservatorium as a classical guitarist with teacher Ken Murray. Alex was introduced to the Suzuki method by her previous teacher, Zeah Riordan, and is currently undergoing her Suzuki Primary Accreditation – to be completed this year. As Alex has also been trained as a classical pianist for six years, she has also been involved as a musical director, organist or guitarist in several choirs. Alex has also been able to participate as a musician in high school and university musicals, volunteering for any opportunity to grow as a musician. Although she was introduced to the Suzuki method later in life, she completely fell in love with the method and the philosophy, believing whole-heartedly that all children have the ability to play beautifully with excellent technique and tone. She is incredibly passionate about bringing the classical guitar and its repertoire to the hearts and ears of everyone she encounters, and believes that the Suzuki method is one of the greatest ways to achieve this.
