Toot Suite Recorder Ensemble
began
as a natural progression from the pre-instrumental classes offered
at Music Works Magic. Many children wish to continue the
interactive experience, enjoying the social aspect of making
music with like minded friends through learning an
instrument.
Children can begin in the group once they have
turned 4 and are singing well in tune. We meet each week for 40
minutes singing, playing games, dancing and learning a
wonderful varied repertoire. We have begun to learn basic literacy
through a Kodaly based approach. (See kodaly.org.au for more information on Kodaly
teaching.) We continue to explore the many skills that are
essential for playing recorder and playing in a group while
discovering wonderful new music.
The group have grown together, developing
their sound. We are happy to have new members. We believe that all
children can learn to sing providing they have the right experiences. We
aim to provide the very best musical experiences. We also have our
Toot Encore Recorder
Ensemble. This advanced group play confidently
and have developed a lovely large repertoire, playing in multi
parts. Back to top

Toot Suite rehearse every Tuesday afternoon 4.15-5.55pm
and Toot Encore every Tuesday from 5.00-5.40pm.We ask our
members to sign up by the semester. So that the ensemble has
continuity and time to develop as a group.
Members need a recorder, a plastic leaf
folder,a music stand, a water bottle and a Music Works Magic bag to
keep and store their music. Books will be issued to students when
they join up. There is a lot of variance in recorders and their
sound. We use non expensive recorders but prefer all students to
purchase the same brand and model so the sound is more uniform. They
will also need aMusic Works Magic badge to wear on a white shirt to rehearsals
and performances.
